Therapist Who Cares

Eileen M Cavlan, CMT

Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapist & Health Educator

CAMTC #53390

Hello, my name is Eileen. I truly believe massage therapy is not a luxury, it is an essential part of being healthy. I have the advantage of having work I love and believe in. My practice focuses more on the clinical massage modalities that concentrate on relieving stress/ tension,  chronic pain and that facilitate your healing process.

In order to provide you with the best experience, you and I will come up with a care plan that addresses your concerns and that will facilitate your body's healing.

 Sláinte ~ To Your Health!

Healthy Well-Being

My mission is to help others help themselves, to be healthy in body, mind and spirit.

I believe that massage is one of the best tools I have to help you facilitate the healing process.

Through massage one learns to reconnect their mind and body and in doing so, we open ourselves to our spiritual self.

Sláinte go saol agat, Fad saol aga,

And the light of heaven after this world for you.”

Experienced Knowledge

I received my massage certification from the California Massage Therapy Council in January 2014, after completing the 900 hour core program at National Holistic Institute College of Massage (NHI);  I graduated from NHI, September 2014, with an additional 450 hours of training in Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (ANMT).

Services

Custom Massage

Your customized massage will begin with an assessment and discussion (approximately, 5 to 15 minutes). Based on what your concerns and goals are for this particular session, we will determine our strategy. A combination of techniques will by applied, which may include: Myofascial Therapies(MFT), Deep Tissue, Swedish, and Acupressure. Some other modalities, such as aromatherapy, cryotherapy, and hot packs may also be incorporated into your session in order to achieve the most effective therapeutic session possible for you.

*Please Note: Most forms of massage is performed on a linen covered table with the client disrobed to their level of comfort. For the client’s safety and security, only the area that is to be worked is undraped; using oil or lotion the therapist will massage the client at an appropriate intensity that suits the client’s comfort.

Swedish

The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart.  Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. Using oil or lotion, I will utilize the 5 basic strokes of Swedish massage at an appropriate intensity that suits the client’s comfort. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. Swedish massage has many benefits that contribute to the client’s overall feeling of well-being. By increasing circulation and assisting with returning blood flow to the heart, massage helps to increase oxygen and nutrient uptake throughout the body while it also increases the body’s efficiency to eliminate waste and toxins. Because massage includes stretching of fascia, range of motion can be improved which can help relieve painful muscles and joints and reduce stress throughout the body.

Effleurage is a long, smooth, gliding, superficial stroke that introduces the area of the body to receive touch as it increases circulation and venous blood flow. Petrissage is a semi-superficial kneading movement that helps warm the tissue while it decreases tension in the muscles. Friction is a deeper movement that crosses a more local fiber tissue helping to prevent and decrease excessive scar tissue. Vibration is a fine, tremulous  movement that is helpful in stimulating nerve activity. Tapotement is a lighter, rhythmic tapping or hacking movement which also stimulates the nervous system. Neuromuscular Therapy/Trigger Point Release

Neuromuscular Therapy

The definition of Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is: the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain.

Injury, trauma, postural distortion or stress cause nerves to speed up their transmission, inhibiting equilibrium and making the body vulnerable to pain and dysfunction. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) to facilitate balance within the body by actively engaging the nervous system.

I utilize NMT techniques based on my education and application of Travell & Simons’ “Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual” principles.

Your first visit will mainly be an assessment (including intake, history and orthopedic tests) and formulating a plan based on the assessment and your goals. Then, depending on the remaining time, bodywork will be initiated. Please allow  90 minutes for initial visit and any follow up visits. ( Life can be hectic, I know,  but your health and well-being is worth the time .) Follow up sessions will be specific to our plan and on the previous session’s results. Because each situation is unique and the duration of pain(chronic) is varied to each individual’s experience, 3 sessions are recommended to determine if we are getting an effective and lasting outcome. Then we will re-assess and modify our plan if needed.

*Please Note: Neuromuscular Therapy is performed with the client completely clothed and no medium(lotion or oil) is used. Please wear comfortable clothing, such as, what one would wear to exercise in
